Make a Legacy Gift

Shaw Island Library & Historical Society relies completely upon our supporters to fund annual operations and initiatives.  Your gift at any level is a valuable contribution to fulfilling our important mission.

Legacy donors have notified Shaw Island Library & Historical Society of provisions in their will to leave a bequest or other planned gift. These gifts, whatever the size, are a powerful legacy for our library and historical society and help sustain our current and future work.

Three ways to make a legacy gift to Shaw Island Library & Historical Society:

1. Name us as a beneficiary in your retirement plan

Perhaps the easiest way to make a legacy gift is to name the Shaw Island Library & Historical Society as a beneficiary of your Individual Retirement Account (IRA), other retirement account or life insurance policy.

If you have online access to your account, doing so may take only a few minutes. You may make Shaw Island Library & Historical Society the primary or contingent beneficiary and provide our address (PO Box 844, Shaw Island, WA 98286) and federal tax id number (91-6068663).

2. Make a charitable bequest through a will

Your attorney can provide you with several options for bequest language.

3. Make a contingent bequest

A contingent bequest provides for the disposition of the estate if one or more of the named beneficiaries fails to survive the donor. Your attorney can provide you with contingent bequest language.
